urbanangel is a non-profit organisation founded with the aim of bringing new media arts to people who would not normally get the opportunity to experience them. Magazines, websites, animations, films, photographs and more can give people the opportunity to express and empower themselves. They can inspire people to improve conditions for both themselves and their communities. They can bring people together, convey powerful messages, promote change and celebrate achievement. New skills can open doorways for people to progress into further education or employment, or simply encourage people to explore new experiences and believe that they can achieve great things.

Anyone can get involved in writing a story, script or storyboard, by suggesting ideas, submitting drawings or just providing inspiration. The technology involved in animation, desk top publishing or video editing can provide challenges for the most accomplished IT users or the most committed technophobe.

Media arts offer an alternative approach to basic and key skills. Literacy, maths, communication and IT can all be explored. Any curriculum subjects can be incorporated, from citizenship and personal development to health and sport. We've tackled diverse issues including bullying, sexual health, car crime, disabilities, violence and drugs, as well as fun topics like horoscopes, music, films and soaps.

urbanangel has worked with young people with a variety of issues, such as dyslexia, low self esteem, family problems, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, self harming, illnesses, behavioural issues and young offenders. We've also worked with disadvantaged women and adults with learning disabilities.
